From the a/w 1976 Saint Laurent collection known as the Russian collection or the Ballet Russes collection, Yves Saint Laurent took his inspiration from Russian folk clothing and costumes from the Ballet Russes, using ruffles, vibrant jewel tones and billowing shapes. I’ve only seen one example of a dress in this style making this quite the rare find. A true piece of vintage history.
Made from a very fine wool that’s soft to the touch, has button front and pockets. Two very small holes on the front shown in the pictures. The busy nature of the print means these are not noticeable and don’t detract. Other wise excellent condition but reflected in the price.
Estimated to fit a few sizes, shown on a size 6-8 mannequin, fits myself at a broad 12 just a little snug on the shoulders. Measurements laid flat:
Bust - 38”
Shoulder to shoulder - 14”
Length - 43”
All vintage has a history and has been loved, small signs of wear add to the charm. Major flaws will be mentioned.
